20140524 Elk River

So, it's been a long time and I can't remember much about this trip. Brad had planned a little Elk River ride and asked if I wanted to join. Of coarse, I said yes, who would give up a chance to go on a ride. (I know... riding isn't for everyone... It's just a figure of speech.)

On the way, we stopped to meet up with Pat. He wasn't riding, but he was in a rented car.

We rode in to Elk River and stopped at the local tavern. There were a couple people there that we knew, so we got to visit for a bit. I can't remember if we got any food, but I had a soda, root beer if I remember correctly.

Afterwards, Pat went his own way while I followed Brad to check out a couple places there in Elk River. While doing so, we ended up on a steep hill, needing to turn around. (I believe it wasn't the road Brad was looking for.) Brad did so fine and headed back down the half block to the bottom of the hill. As I started the U-turn, I didn't give enough throttle and it lugged and then died. Luckily for me, I was able to keep it from leaning down hill too fast, and it came to rest on the floor board. Since it was leaning down hill on a gravel road, I was unable to get enough leverage to get it back up, so Brad had to hike back up the hill and help me get it lifted off the floor board. I was then able to finish the U-turn and go back down the hill.

On the way back, we stopped in Kendrick for a little rest. Brad went into the grocery store for something, while Shelley and I sat on the bench.

Once the break was over, we continued on our way home.

A nice enjoyable little ride.
