20090627 James Cant Ranch

Here I am again, trying to remember events from nine years ago.

One thing to take note, I was riding a Royal Star 1300 with a custom seat this trip. Scott is once again on the V-Star 650.

According to the GPS logs, we left my house at 5:15. Oh yea, I got a GPS for the bike this year. It has helped a lot when trying to remember some details. This year we headed west and southwest.
We stopped for breakfast at Dennys in Pendleton at 8:21.

30 minutes later, we were back on the road, now headed south on highway 395.

When we reached Nye, we turned off onto highway 74. From there, we rode until we got to Heppner where we turned onto highway 206.

We continued until Condon where we made a quick stop to fuel up.

I'm missing a picture from this stop. I distinctly remember having a picture that Scott took of me.

From there, we turned south on highway 19.
We pulled off at the Julia Henderson Pioneer Park. It ended up not being what Scott was thinking it was, so we turned around and pulled back out.
Kids, don't try this at home... Or anywhere else for that matter.

Continuing down highway 19, I snapped a picture with Scott ahead of me.
We soon arrived at the James Cant Ranch in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument area. We wondered around for a bit and checked out a few things and read signs.

From here, we continued south getting on the highway 26 heading back to the east. We followed that until highway 7, which we took heading northeast.

We pulled off highway 7 onto 410 so we could run up to Sumpter for a late lunch/early supper at 15:50.

30 minutes later, we headed back to highway 7 and on to Baker City.

From there, we followed back roads up to La Grande, over to Elgin then up and over to Enterprise. Here we stopped at 19:28 to fill up.

Now, we jumped on highway 3 and headed north towards home. Riding over the border, down past Bogans, up Rattle Snake Grade, past Asotin and back to Lewiston. We arrived home at 21:47 after 661.8 miles.

I have to say... I think Scott was slacking off this trip. For one that is know for making a trip "interesting", this one was a nice and relaxing one. Although, I do believe that he didn't think it fair that I had a better seat, because half the fun for him is to inflict pain on those with him.
