We took minor highways through St. Maries, passing Marla's house to get to the Valley Mart (Medimont, ID) to fill up our bikes. We then rode back to Marlas to visit. The area is affectionately call Kraack-ville from some people, because of the large Kraack family presence.
We spent some time visiting with Marla and her husband and checking out the house. From the back porch you could see out over what we believe is swan lake and the Coeur d'Alene river.
They had just gotten a load of gravel dumped on their driveway. As Scott and I left, Scott's bike, with its knobby tires, rose and climbed to the top of the driveway reaching the paved road easily. My bike, on the other hand, with its rounded highway tire, sunk into the deep gravel and spun. I was able to get to the paved road, but I was spinning my back tire for the majority of the way to it.
We rode back into St. Maries and stopped for lunch at The Kitchen.
Once finished, we rode back into Lewiston. I stopped to top off the fuel in the bike. I remember feeling that I was ready for another leg of the trip, even though it was over.
